North American Construction Services, Ltd. is hiring a permanent, full-time fitter to join our team in Pinson/Birmingham, AL.

At Fives, we all have a part to play in achieving our common mission. Your role will be:

  • Verifies conformance of work piece to specifications, using squares, levels, measuring tape and other measuring devices
  • Assemble parts via tack welding or bolting
  • Add bracing for welding as necessary
  • Put all layout lines on and have them inspected. All center lines on round pipes and cylinders will be center punched before any fitting begins
  • Check all dimensions on parts and remove all slag, dirt, rust, and oil from the metals before fitting
  • Fit up will not have more than 1/32 gap and/or more than 1/16 out of tolerance without supervisor approval
  • Put all weld symbols on the assembly and lay out all skip welds while only tacking in the weld zones

  • Proven experience as a structural plate fitter: 5+ years of related experience and training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Previous experience in heavy manufacturing
  • A one-year certificate from college or technical school is preferred
  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Perform the following math as needed: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and trigonometry for whole numbers and fractions
