Direct Support Professional

Job Summary: We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide essential care and support to individuals with disabilities in their homes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in caregiving and a genuine passion for helping others achieve their fullest potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist individuals with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and other personal care tasks.
  • Accompany individuals on community outings and activities, ensuring safety and engagement.
  • Prepare and serve nutritious meals while adhering to individual dietary needs and preferences.
  • Provide emotional support, companionship, and encouragement to foster a positive living environment.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment within the individuals' homes.
  • Uphold and advocate for the rights and dignity of each individual at all times.
  • Implement and follow individualized care plans, including specialized support for hospice care, dementia care, and other medical needs.
Qualifications and Skills:

  • Prior experience in a direct support or caregiving role is highly preferred.
  • Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and reliable personal transportation for use during work hours.
  • Ability to prepare and cook healthy, nutritious meals.
  • Strong understanding of individuals' rights and a commitment to advocacy.
  • Professional demeanor with excellent time management skills.
  • Comfort and experience working in individuals' homes, providing 1:1 support.
  • Ability to handle physically demanding tasks, including lifting and transferring individuals to and from beds or wheelchairs.
  • Experience working with individuals who have dual diagnoses, including intellectual disabilities and mental health disorders such as depression or schizophrenia.


    Other Qualifications:

    Certification Requirements:

    • CPR Certification (Required): Candidates must possess current CPR certification to respond effectively in emergency situations.
    • First Aid Certification (Required): A valid First Aid certification is mandatory to provide immediate care in case of minor injuries or health issues.
    • Current TB (2 Step) (Required): A current 2-Step Tuberculosis (TB) test is required to ensure the health and safety of both staff and clients.
    • Medication Training: Candidates must complete medication training at their own expense, with a cost of $50.
    • Fingerprinting for Background Check: Fingerprinting for a background check is required, with costs starting at $50. These costs are not reimbursed by the agency.

      Background Check Requirements:

      If you have had any arrests within the last 7 years, including but not limited to DUIs, CPS involvement, or Domestic Violence, you may still qualify for this position. However, you must pass a background check.

  • Pay: $15.00 per hour
  • Expected Hours: 20–40 hours per week
