Job Summary

This part-time direct care position is available at the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute. The incumbent will provide direct care services to residents, patients, and clients, including basic care and assistance, administering medication, and observing and reporting changes to medical staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care services to residents, patients, and clients
  • Administer medication and take vitals
  • Observe and report changes to medical staff
  • Work in a hospital setting with exposure to mentally and behaviorally challenged residents

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Experience working with treatment teams, in a hospital setting, and with mentally ill clients
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, overtime, shift work, and callback hours as needed

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an acute care hospital setting with exposure to mentally and behaviorally challenged residents who may exhibit unpredictable potentially violent behavior.

Some bending, reaching, pushing, and/or pulling a maximum force of 20 pounds and co-lifting and/or transferring patients with an average weight of one-hundred fifty (150) pounds may be required. Potential exposure to infectious diseases.

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement and all terms/conditions of that agreement apply and must be adhered to.
