Key Skills and Qualities for Success:
- Managing sales and use tax audits, including gathering documentation, responding to auditor inquiries, and negotiating settlements.
- Conducting research on complex sales and use tax issues and providing guidance on tax implications to clients.
- Managing and overseeing the preparation and filing of sales and use tax returns for multiple jurisdictions.
- Monitoring changes in tax legislation and staying informed on current market trends to uphold your reputation as a reliable advisor.
- Understanding clients' business activities and fostering strong relationships to provide personalized advice tailored to their unique needs.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- An achieved or partially achieved CPA or CMI qualification or the ability to sit for the bar.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in sales and use tax, preferably including a managerial role.
- In-depth knowledge of state and local sales and use tax regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in tax research tools and ERP systems.
