Founded in 1955, Piasecki Aircraft Corporation (PiAC) is a research and development business specializing in design, fabrication and flight testing of experimental rotorcraft and unmanned air vehicles. Piasecki has developed and flown more than 25 different advanced VTOL and UAV aircraft and continues to develop cutting-edge vertical flight technologies.
SUMMARY:
The Structures Engineer at Piasecki Aircraft Corporation will lead the design, development, and verification of complex aerospace systems, ensuring they meet performance, safety, and reliability requirements. The Structures Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, utilizing their expertise in structures design, modeling, and analysis to drive successful project outcomes.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Leads development, integration, and documentation of structural requirements to establish the system design.
• Coordinates with other engineering groups to establish the product's environment.
• Guides product design and verifies structural integrity by using and developing analytical methods, finite element models and simulations, and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle to develop the structural environment, characteristics, and performance.
• Leads development of test plans and configurations, supports test execution, analyze and report test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
• Defines and documents certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied.
• Supports in-service products by leading investigations into failures and analyzing improvements.
• Develops analytical processes/tools to improve effectiveness, quality, and efficiency of the development effort.
• Works under minimal direction.
• Reviews and approves certification results.
• Investigates emerging technologies to develop future product designs to meet projected requirements.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
• Familiar with CSW, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) including NASTRAN/Abaqus
• Experience with composites and MIL-HDBK-5
• Experience effectively communicating and collaborating on multi-discipline teams
• Experience mentoring junior engineers
• Conduct of Complex Dynamics Analysis
• Experience leading cross-functional teams
• Familiar with CAD design tools (SOLIDWORKS)
• Experience in the crafting of test plans for dynamic flexible aircraft structures
EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS / CLEARANCES:
• 6 or more years' related work with FAA in Commercial and DOD Aircraft development
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent
