SALARY NEGOTIABLE BASED ON PRIOR EXPERIENCE
POSITION SUMMARY:
Dispenses prescriptions and provides care and counsel to patients and caregivers on prescriptions and over-the-counter health care products in a community pharmacy environment. Assists with maximizing the pharmacy’s sales, profit and customer service objectives.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Provide final verification and legally dispenses prescriptions according to professional standards. Ensures accuracy of all prescriptions issued under his/her control.
· Consults with customers in a knowledgeable, polite, and caring manner; ensures an exceptional customer service experience.
· Communicates in a knowledgeable, efficient, polite, and effective manner with various levels of health care professionals, i.e. doctors, nurses, care givers, etc, to plan, monitor, review, and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of drugs and drug regimens, providing advice on drug applications and characteristics.
· Uses and maintains the pharmacy records such as pharmacy files, patient profiles, charge system files, inventories, control records and registries of poisons, narcotics, and controlled drugs in accordance with state and federal law, accreditation standards, or company policy.
· Compound and dispense medications as prescribed by doctors and dentists, by calculating, weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients, or oversee these activities.
· Offer health promotion and prevention activities, for example, training people to use devices such as blood pressure or diabetes monitors.
· Refer patients to other health professionals and agencies when appropriate.
· Plan, implement, and maintain procedures for mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals, according to policy and legal requirements, to ensure quality, security, and proper disposal.
· Assists Pharmacy Manager in monitoring pharmacy staff to ensure they are meeting expectations; when identifying deficiencies, initiates immediate actions that remedy both the deficiency and its cause.
· Teach pharmacy students serving as interns in preparation for their graduation or licensure.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
· Pharmacist license in state of practice.
· Trained and certified to immunize in State of Wisconsin.
· Maintain license clear of any disciplinary action from the Pharmacy Examining Board or sanctions from Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
· Biennial completion and proper reporting of 30 CEU as required by Wisconsin state pharmacy licensure.
· Proficient in the use of computers and supportive software including the pharmacy software, payroll software, insurance portals, internet resources, security systems, phone message retrieval, POS systems (cash register) and wholesaler platforms.
· Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve problems of varied scope; must be able to act decisively in implementing solutions.
· Demonstrated ability to multi-task; ability to respond flexibly in a quickly changing environment.
· Strong communication skills (both oral and written) for effective interaction with pharmacy team and patients.
· Must demonstrate an exemplary commitment to provide exceptional customer service.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & WORK REQUIREMENTS: WORKING ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Work activities including moving around pharmacy floor for extended periods.
· Must demonstrate physical agility (bending, twisting, reaching and pulling) for handling merchandise.
- Must be available to work early mornings, days, nights and Saturdays to meet the needs of the pharmacy.
· Standing: 6-10 hours per day.
· Must pass a vision exam every 6 months with or without corrective lens that will be provided by the company at no cost to you.
· Requires occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work with a team, speaks clearly, hear well, and listen effectively.
