Nesco Resource is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer for one of our clients in Naugatuck, CT. We are working with a well-established (very profitable for 40 years) client that is expanding into emerging markets in Europe with an environmentally conscious product.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop and enhance electro-mechanical systems.
- Create mechanical design specifications including 3D models for parts, assemblies or complete products using computer-aided design programs and produce Engineering BoMs.
- Adhere to and support company engineering processes.
- Collaborate closely with other departments, such as software development, manufacturing, purchasing and commercial teams, to ensure integrated project outcomes.
- Lead Design for Manufacturing (DFM) activities and other quality-oriented projects.
- Apply structured problem-solving tools and methodologies.
- Provide input for process development.
- Coordinates design changes based on manufacturing challenges.
- Offer engineering design support in collaboration with other teams to resolve manufacturing challenges.
- Extend mentorship to new engineers.
- Stay current with new technologies, methods and techniques.
- Support and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred, Mechatronics will be considered.
- At least 12 years of experience in engineering design, proficiency in SolidWorks 3D and AutoCAD 2D.
- Experience working independently but also enjoy working in a team environment.
- Strong technical, analytical, and creative thinking skills.
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma and structured problem-solving methods.
- Very good English language skills; Romanian or German as a second language a plus.
- Direct hire with excellent benefits that include health, dental vision, 401K, paid holidays, personal/sick and vacation time
- 1st shift, Monday - Friday; onsite
- Salary range: $120 – 150K
