Role: New Business Development Lead, Sales
Location: New York City (LIC Office)
Reports to: Director of Sales & Marketing
Comp Range: $100,000 - $130,000 per year
We are looking for an exceptionally sharp, commercially driven sales leader with proven beauty retail expertise and a track record of landing and expanding major accounts. You will own three critical priorities: landing new key accounts, building and scaling Manic Panic's international client base, and deepening relationships and market share within our current key accounts.
This is a hunter role for someone who understands the beauty industry inside-out, navigates executive-level relationships effortlessly, and thrives on prospecting, pipeline-building, and closing high-stakes deals.
Core Responsibilities
New Business Development
• Land Ulta Beauty: Execute a comprehensive, multi-stakeholder pursuit strategy targeting Ulta's category management, sourcing, and executive leadership. Navigate their buying process, build proof of concept, and close a partnership that positions Manic Panic for category expansion.
• Build International Pipeline: Identify, qualify, and close net-new distribution partners across key international markets (EU, APAC, LATAM). Manage the full lifecycle—from initial outreach through territory mapping, negotiation, and enablement.
• Execute Prospecting: Drive cold outreach, social selling, trade shows, and industry events to surface and pursue high-potential opportunities in retail, professional, and distributor channels.
• Build and Maintain Pipeline: Track deal health, conversion metrics, and activity cadence in CRM. Deliver weekly pipeline reviews and accurate sales forecasting.
Account Development & Growth
• Deepen Key Account Relationships: Serve as the strategic point of contact for assigned major accounts. Conduct quarterly business reviews with buyers, planners, and category managers to assess performance, surface risks, and unlock growth.
• Identify Expansion Opportunities: Uncover and execute upsells, cross-sells, shelf expansion, and new product placements within existing accounts. Present data-driven strategies for increasing market share and velocity.
• Cross-Functional Alignment: Coordinate with Marketing, Supply Chain, Product, and Operations on launches, seasonal programs, promotions, and fulfillment to ensure seamless execution.
Sales Excellence
• Present Compellingly: Deliver tailored pitches and presentations to buyers, distributors, retail leaders, and international partners. Translate Manic Panic's brand story, product innovation, and market opportunity into results.
• Negotiate and Close: Structure terms, promotional programs, and long-term partnerships that drive mutual value. Own the negotiation from proposal to signature.
Required Qualifications
• 7–12+ years of sales or new business development in beauty, personal care, or beauty-adjacent consumer brands
• Demonstrated success landing and managing major national retail accounts (Ulta, Sephora, Sally Beauty, Walmart, Target, or equivalent)
• Proven international sales experience or successful expansion into new geographic markets
• Track record of exceeding multimillion-dollar revenue targets and closing net-new business
• Exceptional presentation, negotiation, and executive-level relationship-building skills
• Strong business acumen—comfortable analyzing data, forecasting, and building strategy
• Must be based in the New York City metro area
• CRM proficiency and comfort with sales tools (Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar)
Who You Are
• A beauty industry insider who understands the category, the competitive landscape, and how major retail partners evaluate and buy from suppliers
• A natural hunter: energized by prospecting, pipeline-building, cold outreach, and closing deals
• A relationship builder who forges trust with C-suite executives, merchandisers, and international partners and navigates complex organizations with grace
• A strategic thinker who sees the macro opportunity and can articulate why Manic Panic's brand, values, and product are compelling to a specific buyer
• Passionate about alternative, expressive beauty and the Manic Panic lifestyle; you genuinely connect with our community and cultural mission
• Comfortable thriving in a fast-paced, creative environment with founders who are hands-on and mission-driven
