Empowering munication: Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (Pasadena, TX)

Soliant Education is seeking a qualified Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) to join our team in the vibrant Pasadena, TX area This full-time, in-person position for the 2024-2025 school year offers a unique chance to make a significant impact on the lives of 10 DHH students by providing specialized instruction and fostering a love for learning.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student on your caseload, addressing their munication goals, academic progress, and social-emotional development.
  • Utilize a variety of evidence-based instructional methods, including spoken and signed language, visual aids, and assistive technology, to create an engaging and accessible learning environment.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, parents, and other professionals to ensure a cohesive approach to student success.
  • Provide specialized instruction in munication skills, such as American Sign Language (ASL), auditory training, and speech therapy (as applicable to your qualifications), to empower students to municate effectively in various settings.
  • Support students in developing literacy skills, critical thinking abilities, and a strong foundation in core academic subjects.
  • Monitor student progress, analyze data, and continuously adjust instruction to meet individual needs and ensure academic achievement.
  • Advocate for students with DHH and promote inclusive practices within the school munity.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in deaf education and best support your students.

Qualifications:

  • Texas State Teaching Certification in Deaf Education or a related field.
  • Prior experience working with students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing in a school setting is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Deaf culture, munication development, and best practices in deaf education.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other munication modalities relevant to DHH education.
  • Expertise in developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) for DHH students.
  • Excellent munication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and other school staff.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, report writing, and maintaining student confidentiality according to ethical guidelines.
  • A passion for promoting inclusivity and advocating for the educational needs of students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
