Key Responsibilities:

* Provide sign language interpreting services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing in educational settings, including classrooms, meetings, and school events.
* Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa, maintaining accuracy and clarity of communication.
* Follow ethical guidelines and professional standards of practice for sign language interpreters.
* Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support the educational goals of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
* Maintain confidentiality of all interpreted information and student records.

Qualifications:

* High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in Sign Language Interpreting or related field preferred.
* Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or equivalent required.
* California Department of Education (CDE) certification as an Educational Interpreter for the Deaf or eligibility to obtain certification.
* Previous experience working as a sign language interpreter in educational settings preferred.
* Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of deaf culture.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Required Licensure and Certifications:

* Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or equivalent.
* California Department of Education (CDE) certification as an Educational Interpreter for the Deaf or eligibility to obtain certification.
