Overview

The Social Catering Sales Manager is knowledgeable and passionate about the event and wedding industry and self-driven to perform in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. The Social Catering Sales Manager is responsible for effectively establishing and managing client relationships and accounts for their respective market segment. Our Social Catering Sales Manager solicits, captures, plans and coordinates meetings and events, while maximizing the banquet space to meet and exceed catering revenue goals, while primarily focusing on the social market


Responsibilities

  • Strong focus on the social, wedding, and non-profit market. Selling social catering events, servicing accounts, developing, and following up on leads for assigned markets.
  • Solicit, negotiate, and book new and repeat social catering sales business through proactive sales efforts such as prospecting, outside sales calls, networking, etc. while maximizing banquet space to meet/exceed catering revenue goals
  • Responsible for meeting budgeted revenue goals while exceeding customer satisfaction; understanding and anticipating customer needs and building strong relationships to ensure increased repeat business; soliciting new business opportunities and answering, closing, and detailing catering sales leads and walk-in customers to achieve or exceed activity goals.
  • Excellent relationship-building and negotiating skills, exceptional follow-through, strong organizational and time-management skills are required
  • Keep up with market conditions (i.e., competitor's strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply, and demand) and how to sell against them.
  • Works closely with property operations and food and beverage teams to better meet the needs of our clients throughout the sales and event planning process.
  • Assists client in the selection of food and beverage menu and audio-visual needs using upselling techniques to maximize revenue
  • Create event floor plans to ensure banquet and client agree prior to set-up
  • Inspects meeting and event room set-up to ensure compliance with client specifications
  • Participate in daily business review, weekly sales meeting, weekly BEO meeting, training, and other sales related meetings.
  • Adheres to all work rules, SOP’s, and policies established by the company, including but not limited to those contained in the Employee Handbook
  • Ensure an extraordinary experience and create loyalty to the property and Hard Rock brand by exceeding expectations through exceptional service and product quality.
  • Resolve guest and client complaints and implement changes to prevent future issues.
  • Monitor quality assurance program scores and guest feedback. Take corrective action when necessary.
  • Promote the organization in and out of industry and at relevant trade associations.
  • Present a professional image to employees, guests, clients, owners, and investors.
  • Generate incremental revenue and brand awareness through the creation and implementation of brand relevant local events and promotions.
  • Operate ethically to protect the Hard Rock brand. Ensure brand and business initiatives are implemented.
  • Maintain confidentiality of guest, employee, and company information.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of one year in hotel catering sales experience, preferably in the social market.

  • The ability to negotiate, influence and sell.
  • High energy with effective and influential people skills. Positive attitude and the desire to motivate others.
  • Ability to prioritize and work on several projects simultaneously should pose a challenge without being overwhelming.
  • Ability to comprehend and use technical or professional language, either written or spoken, to communicate complex ideas.
  • Effective communication and listening skills and excellent speaking, reading, and writing ability.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and employees of the organization.
  • Strong command of software applications, especially Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and hotel-specific platforms (Delphi FDC, Delphi Diagrams, Sertifi, Agilysys, etc.).
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers and staff, some of whom will require elevated levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Fluency in English: additional languages preferred.
