Position Overview:
The Ocean Freight Logistics Specialist will be responsible for managing and optimizing the ocean freight shipments for our clients. This role involves overseeing the entire ocean transportation process, from booking cargo to ensuring compliance with regulations and resolving operational challenges. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of global shipping operations, excellent problem-solving skills, and a deep commitment to providing exceptional service to clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage ocean freight shipments from origin to destination, ensuring timely and efficient delivery.

  • Handle all aspects of ocean freight logistics, including booking, documentation, carrier selection, and compliance with international shipping regulations.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with ocean carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, to ensure smooth and cost-effective shipments.

  • Monitor the status of ocean freight shipments, tracking and resolving any delays, damages, or disruptions.

  • Negotiate freight rates and terms with ocean carriers to secure the best possible pricing and service levels for clients.

  • Prepare and process all necessary shipping documents, including bills of lading, customs documentation, and import/export paperwork.

  • Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations, including customs and security requirements.

  • Work closely with internal teams (sales, customer service, operations, and accounts) to ensure accurate and timely communication with clients regarding shipment status and updates.

  • Provide recommendations for process improvements to enhance the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of ocean freight operations.

  • Maintain accurate records of shipments and carrier contracts.

  • Resolve any operational or customer service issues related to ocean freight in a proactive and solution-oriented manner.

  • Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and market conditions to support continuous improvement and competitive advantage.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, or a related field (preferred).

  • 1+ years of experience in ocean freight logistics, international shipping, or a related field.

  • Strong understanding of ocean freight operations, including booking, documentation, routing, and customs clearance.

  • Familiarity with global shipping regulations, Incoterms, and international trade compliance.

  • Proficient in freight management software and tools; experience with TMS (Transportation Management Systems) is a plus.

  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and internal teams.

  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and resolve issues quickly and efficiently.

  • Knowledge of supply chain processes and logistics management is an advantage.

  • Fluency in additional languages is a plus but not required.
