Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and organized Animal Shelter Customer Service Representative to join our team. In this role, you will provide excellent customer service by assisting members of the public with inquiries, transactions, and services related to pet licensing, animal adoptions, and other shelter operations. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a love for animals, and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service via Phone:
• Answer the main phone line and assist callers with pet license payments, questions about stray or adoptable animals, and inquiries about laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations.
• Provide accurate information and guidance regarding animal control policies.
• Enter activity calls into the Chameleon database for animal control officer response.
In-Person Customer Assistance:
• Assist customers at the counter with a variety of services, including:
oProcessing animal adoptions.
oHandling stray animal and spay/neuter intake.
oFacilitating stray animal pick-ups and returns to owners.
oProcessing microchip implant requests and service animal tag applications.
oAccepting payments for pet licenses, adoptions, impound fees, owner surrender fees, and quarantine fees.
• Help customers locate stray or adoptable animals.
• Assist current and potential volunteers by providing information and answering questions.

Administrative Duties:
• Maintain accurate records in the Chameleon database and other systems.
• Stay up-to-date with shelter policies and procedures to provide accurate and reliable information.

Qualifications:
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient with computer systems and data entry; experience with Chameleon software is a plus.
• A passion for animals and a commitment to providing exceptional service to the community.
• Previous experience in customer service, animal care, or a related field is preferred.

Work Environment:
• This role requires interaction with both animals and the public, and occasional exposure to loud noises, odors, and other environmental factors associated with a shelter setting.
• Flexibility to work some evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.
