We are offering an opportunity for a Patient Access Specialist in the healthcare and social assistance industry, located in Bangor, Maine. You will be working in a hospital setting, ensuring efficient and effective patient care coordination. The Patient Access Specialist is a long-term contract onsite patient-facing opportunity. If you are a Patient Access Specialist with a desire to help people this may be the role for you


Responsibilities:

• Greet and communicate with patients and visitors in person, maintaining a high standard of customer service

• Accurately enter and update patient demographic and financial information in the system

• Obtain, confirm, and file necessary applications and forms, ensuring signatures are on file

• Provide patients with financial responsibility information and document patient liabilities

• Collaborate with various departments including Financial Counseling, Scheduling, Financial Clearance, and clinical areas to ensure all aspects of the patient's encounter are completed as needed

• Assist patients with hospital information requests and provide wayfinding instructions

• Coordinate patient admission needs, bed assignments, and tracking boards where applicable

• Meet or exceed audit accuracy standards and work on worklists and error reports promptly

• Maintain a safe environment by complying with policies and procedures, report and directly address environmental hazards and violations of patient safety policy and/or protocol when observed

• Perform other duties as requested.

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 6 months + of call center experience
  • Previous medical experience is highly preferred
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite experience
  • Previous EMR experience is a plus
