Position Available: Teacher of the Visually Impaired

Position Summary:
In this role, you will play a critical role in delivering specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments. You will be responsible for designing individualized education plans (IEPs), implementing adaptive teaching strategies, and providing essential services to support students academic and personal development. Collaboration with educators, families, and support staff will be key to ensuring a positive and inclusive educational environment.
Core Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify students' educational needs and develop tailored IEPs that address their specific requirements.
- Deliver instruction using specialized techniques, materials, and assistive technologies designed for students with visual impairments.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and educational teams to ensure that instructional strategies are effectively integrated into the students' learning experience.
- Provide training in essential skills for independent living and offer orientation and mobility instruction as required.
- Advocate for students' needs and facilitate effective communication between the school, families, and community resources.
Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Education with a focus on Visual Impairments or a related field.
- Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility for certification.
- Proven experience working with students with visual impairments, ideally within an educational setting.
- Proficiency in Braille and familiarity with adaptive technologies and assistive devices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and educational professionals.
