Job Title: Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher
About Us:
We are excited to find a dedicated and skilled Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher to become a part of our team and significantly impact our students' educational experiences.
Position Overview:
In this role, the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher will offer expert instruction and support tailored to students with hearing impairments. The successful candidate will bring experience in crafting individualized education plans (IEPs), utilizing diverse communication strategies, and working collaboratively with families and other educators to foster student achievement.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and execute individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with hearing impairments.
  • Provide targeted instruction and support in both academic subjects and social-emotional development.
  • Employ a range of communication methods, including American Sign Language (ASL), spoken language, and assistive technologies.
  • Partner with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and other specialists to meet student needs.
  • Assess and track student progress, adjusting teaching methods as necessary.
  • Guide and support families in strategies to improve learning and communication at home.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay abreast of current best practices and educational technologies.

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Deaf Education or a related discipline.
  • Valid teaching certification in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other relevant communication methods.
  • Prior experience with deaf and hard of hearing students.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to cultivate a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Commitment to continuous professional growth.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of assistive listening devices and related technologies.
  • Experience with the development and implementation of IEPs.
  • Familiarity with educational software and technological tools.
