Must have worked in a structured cabling environment. For starters must be able to install j hooks and pull cable, terminating cat 6 will be a plus. must be comfortable working on a lift 30+ feet in the air in a warehouse setting. Needs to know how to terminate RJ-45 and the color code by heart.

• Install cable support systems in new or existing buildings
• Establish cable pathways as prescribed by industry standards
• Terminate and test copper voice/data cables
• Install termination blocks, patch panels and station hardware
• Install, terminate, test and troubleshoot fiber optic cable
• Collaborate with Manager and Customer in project planning and implementation
• Prepare and maintain daily job journals, field change order forms, material inventory forms and all required documentation
• Manage location schedules including start time, break time and stop time
• Train and direct Technicians and Technician Helpers
• Cleanup work site each day
• Comply with all safety regulations

Job Description

our partner (Jacksonville FL) is currently searching for a travel tech to lead structured cabling projects throughout the US. In this role, the person must have 5 years’ plus experience leading a low voltage crew on large projects. Will be required to be OSHA 10, fall prevention, and scissor lift certified(we can do those certs online). Techs can be located anywhere as long as they can travel. Will be leading crews, be hands on, and be the liaison between the PM’s and site GC’s, must be able to terminate fiber (RJ 45). . Company will rent them a car when working away from home, must have clean driving record. Per diem $36/day

I’m looking for Travel LEADS that have the following qualifications:
1. Valid Drivers License
2. Proven leader of at least 5 technicians
3. Fiber preferred
4. Must have tools that a Lead Level tech would have
5. Must live within an hour’s drive of a MAJOR AIRPORT – Mid to Eastern USA preferred.
6. Must be able to drive to sites that are within 4 – 6 hours of home address
a. We usually figure out which is more cost efficient, tech driving or us flying.
7. Must be able to think outside the box to work out solutions to issues that may pop up.
8. Needs to know excel and Microsoft outlook.
9. Should have a laptop so they can use that until we see if they’re going to work out. Then we’ll issue a company phone and laptop.
10. Need to know how to operate a Fluke Tester
11. Must be able to operate a lift in confined spaces.
12. Will be working in out site weather and freezer – spaces without AC.
13. Must be able to carry and climb ladders.
14. Must be able to communicate with the customer and our PM’s

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 2+ years experience in the telecommunications industry
• Knowledge of category rated testers, Cat 3, Cat 5, Cat 5e and Cat 6 cable troubleshooting
• Advanced knowledge of fiber optic cable requirements, fire stopping and grounding
• Ability to read, analyze and decipher scopes of work
• Ability to use basic hand tools, punch down, shears and crimp tools
• Ability to read floor plans

Tech will be traveling for weeks at a time to different sites around America. Every 4-5 weeks they fly the techs home for a "long weekend" to see their family. It will be new constructions sites.
