Shelter Veterinarian Role – Nashville, TN

As a Shelter Veterinarian, you'll combine medical expertise with community impact, focusing on the following key areas:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead High-Impact Medicine: Perform high-volume spay/neuter surgeries, emergency procedures, and preventive care.
  • Drive Program Innovation: Develop medical protocols, train staff, and collaborate with universities to advance shelter medicine.
  • Champion Animal Welfare: Conduct forensic work in animal cruelty cases and provide expert testimony for justice.
  • Guide a Medical Team: Lead and mentor veterinary technicians and shelter staff, maintaining high care standards.
  • Build Community Solutions: Participate in public health initiatives, manage community clinic programs, and expand access to veterinary care.

Qualifications:

  • Required Skills: Excellent communication, critical thinking, analytical skills, scientific aptitude, and problem-solving.
  • Education: Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent).
  • Experience: No management experience is required, but a mid-senior level of expertise is preferred.
  • Certifications: Veterinary license required.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary: $106,923.76 - $165,731.85 annually.
