Trenton, United States TEKsystems Full time
Job DescriptionJob Description

Required Skills: years experience working in the design capacity, layer 3 skills or awareness of it in the OSI model, route switch experience

don’t touch equipment directly but logging into it to verify services configs etc, primarily working with tools like visio and Microsoft office suite for the technical input on configurators that start with sales and go over bandwidth, hand over requirements to customer and then confirm with them to have the design engineer to drop services and configs for customer

Day in the Life: there are multiple systems used, this is both pre and post sales capacity, pre sales they use salesforce-- receiving a tasks to create a design and BOM and other stuff, then that comes in from sales engineering teams. design engineer reviews the information and use internal tools to create design and BOM for services to do that "hand off" to customer, optics, and initial verification of fiber/coax. then complete that and put it in a 72hr SLA, and then they move to the next one. you will live in a que in salesforce, in these cases would be generically assigned or funneled work to them, or federal orders funnel to them directly.

there is some pre sales work in ORION system, its newer. its an all inclusive system from sales to implementation. designed mainly to be a post sales tool but it has pre sales functionality. it allows design and provisioning to be done in automated fashion. once the salesforce stuff is done and the order mgmt passes through, it will hit a system called century-- similar to ORION, where the design engineer lock down the services, assign ports, augment and integrate changes, confirmed BOM for procurement team, once the design piece is completed, launches to provisioning team, provide configs to build services, bandwidth, ports, moves it through configs to drop and test and turn up and then field do install.
