Sterile Processing Technician

An Ambulatory Surgery Center in Everett, WA is looking for Sterile Processing Technician to join their team.

Overview of Responsibilities:

Decontamination of Instruments and Scopes:

  • Clean, disassemble, inspect, and decontaminate instruments, equipment, and scopes following manufacturers' instructions for use (IFUs) and AAMI standards.
  • Utilize manual, ultrasonic, and automated processes for decontamination.
  • Properly handle and dispose of biohazard materials while wearing PPE.

Assembly and Preparation:

  • Assemble instrument trays and peel packs accurately for various surgical and clinical needs.
  • Ensure all tools meet surgical requirements and are in optimal condition.

Sterilization and High-Level Disinfection (HLD):

  • Operate and maintain steam autoclaves, low-temperature sterilizers, and liquid chemical sterilizers (e.g., Steris 1E).
  • Perform HLD procedures on flexible scopes and other instruments.
  • Accurately document sterilization cycles using software or paper logs.

Quality Assurance:

  • Perform daily tests and checks for sterilizers, HLD equipment, and environmental conditions.
  • Maintain adherence to infection control protocols and regulatory compliance standards.

Documentation and Tracking:

  • Record all sterilization and HLD activities electronically using software like SPM (a bonus skill).
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of instrument reprocessing and quality checks.

Equipment Maintenance and Work Area Management:

  • Maintain workstations and reprocessing equipment to ensure cleanliness and functionality.
  • Perform routine equipment checks and report maintenance needs promptly.

Collaboration and Training:

  • Assist in onboarding and training new team members in sterile processing protocols.
  • Communicate effectively with the OR team, clinics, and other departments to manage priorities.

Requirements:

    • Education: High school diploma or GED
    • Experience: Preferably one year in an acute care setting.

  • Certification:

      • Preferred: Certification through HSPA or equivalent

  • Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to stand, bend, push, pull, and lift 24-50 lbs regularly
  • Communication: Fluent in English (spoken and written)

Schedule/Shift:

  • 4 PM-1:30 AM or 2 PM-10:30 PM (candidate can choose)
  • Training Shift: 12 PM-8:30 PM
  • No Weekends

Contract Length:

1280 Hours. Opportunity to convert to permanent hire after satisfactory completion of contract.

Pay:

$22 - $33 (Dependant on experience)
