Job Description

We are seeking a Mechanic Assistant to support our production team with machinery maintenance and repairs. Responsibilities include monitoring the production floor, performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and creating work orders. You will operate tools and machinery such as welders and lathes, interpret manuals and blueprints, and assist with continuous improvement efforts.

Hours

Full-time (must be flexible/open to any schedule)

Shifts available: 4/10hr days or 5/8hr days

Pay

$27.00 - $32.00 per hour

Responsibilities

  • Proactively monitor production floor and complete daily maintenance logs.
  • Generate work orders for repairs and perform preventive maintenance.
  • Create a work list for potential issues, check inventory, and order necessary parts.
  • Learn new troubleshooting and repair techniques for all equipment.
  • Assist with continuous improvement programs.
  • Monitor machine performance and ensure operation at rated speeds.
  • Interpret manuals, blueprints, and schematics for machinery.
  • Use various hand tools and machinery (e.g., welders, lathe, milling machine) for repair, maintenance, and setup.
  • Operate testing devices (e.g., VOM meter, AMP meter) and measuring tools (e.g., caliper, micrometer).
  • Maintain excellent attendance.

Requirements

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Routinely move items up to 50 lbs.
  • 2-5+ years of mechanical experience with machinery.
  • Proficient in power tools, hand tools, and control wiring.
  • Knowledge of electrical (up to 480 volts), hydraulic, pneumatic systems, machining, fabrication, and welding.
  • Able to remain stationary for extended periods.
  • Attention to detail with adherence to cleanliness protocols.
  • Understands OSHA, Arc Flash, and LOTO procedures.
  • Frequently required to twist, bend, and stoop.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and good employee relations.
  • Excellent attendance and flexibility in work areas and start times.
  • Must be able to work weekends/holidays.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues and maintain clear communication.
  • Reliable transportation to meet the required work schedule.
  • Manual dexterity and use of both hands required.
  • Long-term commitment expected.
