We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Full-Time Special Education Teacher to join our team in Bristol, CT, and help make a positive difference in the lives of students with special needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities, ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines.
- Adapt and modify curriculum to meet the needs of students with diverse learning disabilities, including academic, social, and behavioral goals.
- Provide direct instruction to students in small group and one-on-one settings.
- Monitor and assess student progress on IEP goals, adjusting instruction as needed to promote success.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive education practices and facilitate effective co-teaching.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, behavior, and progress toward IEP goals.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress, behavior, and needs.
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and other school-related meetings.
- Implement effective behavior management strategies, using positive reinforcement and proactive techniques.
- Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel respected and valued.
- Stay current with best practices in special education and participate in ongoing professional development opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Valid Connecticut State Certification in Special Education (or eligible for certification).
- Bachelors degree in Special Education (Masters degree preferred).
- Experience working with students with special needs, including experience in writing and implementing IEPs.
- Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail in documentation and record-keeping.
- Compassionate, patient, and dedicated to supporting the success of all students.
- Ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic, team-oriented school environment.
