About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Lead Special Education Teacher to join our team at Bristol Public Schools. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to make a positive impact on the lives of students with diverse needs.

Job Summary:

The Lead Special Education Teacher will be responsible for providing academic support and guidance to students in a district-wide program. The successful candidate will have a strong background in special education, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and parents.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that cater to the unique needs of each student
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons that promote academic growth and social development
  • Maintain accurate records and submit reports as required
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and improve instructional strategies
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians to keep them informed about their child's progress
  • Supervise and mentor junior teachers to ensure they receive the necessary support and guidance

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field; Master's degree preferred
  • Valid Connecticut Teaching Certificate, 165 Comprehensive Special Education, K-12
  • Proven experience working with students with diverse learning needs
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Salary and Benefits:

This position comes with a competitive salary range of $80,000-$110,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. Additionally, you can expect to enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
