ProCare Therapy has an exciting opportunity for a skilled and dedicated Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to join our team in West Bloomfield As a TVI, you will play a vital role in providing specialized instruction and support to visually impaired students, helping them reach their full potential academically and personally.
Overview:

  • Full Time
  • 5 Days a Week
  • 35 Hours Per Week
  • Start: As Soon As Possible
  • End: June 2025

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of visually impaired students.
  • Utilize various assistive technologies, adaptive equipment, and braille materials to facilitate learning and accessibility.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and parents to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Conduct assessments to evaluate students' progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
  • Provide direct instruction and support to students in areas such as orientation and mobility, daily living skills, and social interaction.
  • Offer consultation and training to school staff and parents on best practices for accommodating visually impaired students.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field.
  • Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired or equivalent.
  • Experience working with visually impaired students and knowledge of various visual impairments and their impact on learning.
  • Familiarity with assistive technologies, braille, and adaptive equipment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with students, colleagues, and parents.
