Automotive Electrical Technician

Job Description:This role involves performing advanced electrical repairs, diagnostics, and coaching at an OEM vehicle assembly facility. The Automotive Electrical Technician will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving electrical issues in vehicles, conducting repairs, and ensuring that all work complies with OEM standards. The position requires flexibility to work different shifts as part of a rotation and occasional travel to other work sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide on-site vehicle repair and mentoring at an OEM assembly facility, including weekday and some weekend shifts.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues in vehicles and provide solutions.
- Repair or replace faulty wiring, connectors, and electrical systems.
- Install new vehicle wiring systems in compliance with OEM standards.
- Perform root cause analysis to identify vehicle deficiencies and communicate solutions.
- Repair and troubleshoot immobilizer and alarm systems, as well as other electrical subsystems.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Complete job reports and related paperwork.
- Train and guide other repair personnel to improve their understanding of vehicle electrical systems and effective troubleshooting methods.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert on vehicle electrical systems for the team.
- Share lessons learned with leadership and peers to improve the overall repair process.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as an automotive electrical repair technician.
- Advanced knowledge of modern vehicular electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret digital multimeters, OEM diagnostic scan tools, and electrical schematic diagrams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in confined vehicle spaces and distinguish subtle color variations.
- Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience as a shop foreman or lead technician.
- Experience with automotive electrical schematic development.
- Automotive Technical Assistance Center (TAC) experience.
Certifications:
- ASE certifications.
