Job DescriptionJob Description

Tyler Houk (Practice Director) with Robert Half is in search of a Controller to join our team in the Agriculture industry, based in Visalia, California. This role will involve a range of responsibilities from supervising the Accounting team to managing the company's financial controls and procedures. The successful candidate will also be tasked with managing the Treasury, ensuring accurate General Ledger entries, and developing the annual internal budget.


Responsibilities


• Supervise the Accounting team, including the hiring and training of new staff

• Manage the company's financial controls and establish business practices and procedures in line with ERP capabilities

• Oversee the Treasury, including the reconciliation of all bank accounts and monitoring of daily cash balances

• Ensure accurate General Ledger entries, account reconciliations, budget accruals, and month-end closing activities

• Develop and implement protocols for reporting subsidiary financial results to the corporate office

• Lead the development of the annual internal budget

• Support Human Resources with payroll and benefits administration as necessary

• Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness

• Manage Accounts Receivable, customer accounts, and cash receipts

• Sign checks, approve wire transfers, and authorize payments


This role offers an exciting opportunity for professionals with strong experience in an ERP environment, advanced Microsoft Excel skills, and a thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP. The ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment is also essential.

• Candidate must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of finance or related roles.

• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) is mandatory.

• Experience with Month End Close procedures is required.

• Familiarity with General Ledger operations is essential.

• Ability to Prepare Financial Statements accurately and efficiently.

• Must have a solid understanding of the agriculture industry.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are required.

• Must be able to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

• Prior experience in a leadership role or similar is desirable.

• A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is required, a master's degree or relevant certifications will be considered an advantage.

• Must be proficient in the use of financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.

• Strong time management and organizational skills are necessary.

• Candidate must be detail-oriented and able to multitask effectively.

• Must adhere to high ethical standards and demonstrate integrity in all professional dealings.

• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and handle financial data confidentially.

• Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements in the agriculture industry is preferred.
