Hours: Monday – Thursday, 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM

About the Role
We are a staffing agency assisting a state government organization in recruiting for a Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP) Case Intake Specialist. This role is vital in managing the Section 8/Housing Choice Voucher Program's waiting lists and determining eligibility for low-income families.

Key Responsibilities
Application and Eligibility Management:

Review, process, and assess HCVP applications for eligibility.
Conduct interviews to explain program requirements and address applicant concerns.
Verify income and documentation, perform criminal background checks, and rank applicants according to policies.
Notify applicants of eligibility decisions and maintain up-to-date records in the system.
Program Support:

Assist applicants in completing forms and understanding program rules.
Conduct rent calculations, verifications, and participant recertifications as needed.
Coordinate with landlords and residents on program responsibilities.
Administrative Duties:

Maintain accurate waiting lists and ensure fair placement in available units.
Handle correspondence, field visits, and file updates as necessary.
Support portability transitions for residents between housing authorities.
Customer Service:

Provide courteous, clear communication via phone, email, and in-person interactions.
Resolve issues related to program requirements and utility allowances.
Qualifications and Certifications
Education and Experience:

Associate’s degree in Business, Social Work, Human Services, Public Administration, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in property management, low-income housing, or social services.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Required Certifications:

Fair Housing and Reasonable Accommodation Certifications (within one year of hire).
HCVP Case Intake Specialist, Occupancy Specialist, and Rent Calculation Certifications (within one year of hire).
Skills and Knowledge
Familiarity with federal, state, and local housing regulations, including HUD and Fair Housing laws.
Proficiency in rent calculations, eligibility assessments, and administrative plans.
Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational abilities to manage sensitive information and maintain records.
Competency in computer systems, basic office equipment, and mathematical calculations.
