Job Posting: Special Education Teacher (SPED)

Location: Bremerton, Washington, USA

Responsibilities:

  • Provide an optimal learning environment for all students with diverse learning needs.
  • Actively participate in collaborative decision-making processes and support group initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with school staff to deliver effective instructional strategies to students.
  • Implement a systematic instructional process tailored to meet the educational needs of students in the classroom.
  • Engage in thoughtful and deliberate planning for instructional activities aligned with District and State guidelines.
  • Collaborate with administration and fellow staff members in problem-solving and group activities.
  • Model lifelong learning, promote positive self-esteem, and foster respect for others among students.
  • Uphold high personal, professional, and instructional standards for both self and students.
  • Adhere to the Washington Code of Professional Conduct.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned or required by the school.

Qualifications:

  • Current Washington State Special Education Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement.
  • Strong belief in the potential of all students to learn and grow.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and developmentally appropriate educational practices.
  • Familiarity with Common Core State Standards, various assessment tools, Response to Intervention (RTI), and the CEL 5D+ Instructional Framework preferred.
  • Sensitivity and proficiency in working effectively with a diverse student population.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the community.
  • Genuine passion for working with students of all abilities.
  • Demonstrated success in previous experience working with students at the appropriate grade level and in the subject area.
  • Understanding of child growth and developmental needs.
