Job Title: Special Education Teacher

Location: Albemarle, NC

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team in Albemarle, NC. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing individualized instruction and support to students with special needs, ensuring they receive the best possible education in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
  • Adapt and modify general education curriculum to meet the needs of students with varying abilities.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, school staff, and parents to support student learning and progress.
  • Use a variety of instructional techniques and strategies to meet students' needs and ensure academic growth.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instruction as necessary.
  • Provide a safe and positive learning environment for all students.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and other professional meetings as required.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance and progress.
  • Stay current with best practices and developments in special education.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field. Masters degree preferred.
  • Licensure:
    • North Carolina Professional Educators License in Special Education (K-12).
    • Must meet North Carolina Department of Public Instruction requirements.
  • Certifications:
    • Appropriate teaching certification in Special Education.
    • Any additional certifications as required by the state of North Carolina.
  • Experience:
    • Prior experience working with students with disabilities preferred.
    • Experience developing and implementing IEPs is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of special education laws and regulations.
    • Excellent munication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with a team.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Patience, creativity, and a passion for teaching students with special needs.
Working Conditions
  • This position may require lifting and moving of materials and equipment.
  • The teacher may need to assist students with physical needs, including mobility and personal care.
  • Work may involve exposure to municable diseases and bodily fluids.
