We are partnering with a prominent Disability Services and Support organization based in Pleasanton, CA, to find a skilled Paralegal with expertise in internal audits, inquiry preparation, and legal support. This role will work directly with the lead attorney to investigate billing discrepancies, conduct internal audits, and assist in preparing for potential hearings. Candidates may work on either a part-time or full-time basis depending on their availability, and should be local to the Bay Area for monthly onsite meetings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct internal audits and inquiries into billing discrepancies, ensuring compliance with program guidelines and regulations.
- Prepare and organize documentation to support the lead attorney in potential inquiries or hearings.
- Assist with case preparations, evidence gathering, and document analysis to support the organization’s disability services.
- Perform legal research and prepare documentation with a focus on the compliance requirements related to California’s disability programs.
- Provide general paralegal support to assist with ongoing and emerging case needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Paralegal certification or equivalent experience in a legal support role.
- Strong experience in internal audits, compliance, and inquiry preparation within a legal or regulated environment.
- Familiarity with disability law, specifically California DDS, Regional Centers, FMS networks, and the Self Determination Program (SDP) is highly desirable, though not required.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail in audit and inquiry documentation.
- Effective communication skills to interact with various stakeholders and team members.
- This is a remote role with flexibility for either part-time (20 hours/week) or full-time (40 hours/week) work. Candidates must be based in the Bay Area for occasional onsite meetings.
