The Client is a global industrial tech and aerospace manufacturer and service provider HQ in Bristol, CT. They employ over 5000 and have locations throughout the US and overseas.

 

Job description:
Core Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the organization and maintenance of general ledger, general journal, standard journal and all subsidiary ledgers required to properly record financial transactions and maintain accounting records ensuring compliance to SOX.

  • Assist Division Controller and Assistant Division Controller with all financial aspects, including monthly reports, control of costs, safeguard of assets, month-end closing and reporting requirements ensuring all deadlines are met, etc.

  • Responsible for the development and monthly monitoring of controllable expense analyses to help drive cost reduction.

  • Support annual physical inventory and cycle counting requirements.

  • Coordinate monthly account reconciliation process.

  • Responsible for the accounting of Property, Plant, Equipment and Tooling.

  • Assist with SOX 404 audits by Internal and External auditors, as well as Corporate Finance.

  • Assist with processing scrap transactions.

  • Control account reconciliation and intercompany transactions.

  • Coordinate the review and processing of accounts payable disbursements through the Shared Services group.

  • Interact with Division Management to implement continuous

 

Qualifications:

  • 3 to 5 years of audit and accounting experience with a proven track record of progressive career advancement.

  • Impeccable integrity; excellent working knowledge of US GAAP and working in a SOX environment.

  • Analytical approach and attention to detail.

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent communication (both oral and written) skills and strong interpersonal skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel. Education Requirements:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required.

 

Experience/soft skills must have vs nice to have:

  • 3-5 years’ experience with audit- and accounting; supporting month-end, year-end, reconciliations, experience w the balance sheet in a manufacturing or distribution company where they were dealing with inventory and cost accounting – this is KEY

  • GAAP accounting and working in a SOX compliance environment

  • BS in Finance or Accounting

  • **Must Have Public Manufacturing Background**

 
Software, and technical skills required vs preferred:

  • Strong Excel and reporting skills

  • They use Styeline ERP/accounting system – not required

 

Position Title: Staff Accountant

Location: Onsite. Warren, MI

Contract Type: Contract to Hire

Pay: $40/hour

Preferred schedule: 8am-5pm, Mon-Fri
