Job Description
• Designs fire alarm systems with accuracy.
• Working knowledge of Smoke Control Systems, Building Integration, Air Sampling Systems, ERRCS.
• Maintain expert level of product and applications knowledge.
• Work with the technical staff to interpret project specifications and drawings, determining system layout.
• Provide design and specification development support to consultants, integrators, and distributors.
• Assist with functional, technical, labor, and pricing elements of RFIs/RFPs.
• Complete engineering requests in accordance with sound business practices and general corporate policies.
• Understand and utilize company-drafting procedures.
• Review individual drawings to ensure completeness and accuracy of work performed.
• Maintain accurate records of, opportunities, quotes, projects, contacts and correspondence in company approved databases.
• Perform to a professional standard for accurate, neat, error free work, as determined by the department manager.
• Actively participate in personal and professional development and maintain knowledge of current and new technologies that the company offers.
• Promote a team environment, assisting other Design Engineers with their projects. Performs other related duties as required and/or assigned by management.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
• Proficient knowledge of state and local codes.
• Ability to read architectural, mechanical and electrical blueprints and have a solid understanding of basic electrical and mechanical control systems.
• Must demonstrate Computer literacy, including such programs as MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
• Must demonstrate competency in advanced fire alarm design (High-rise, Smoke control, Voice, etc)
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and adjust to shifting priorities
• Must possess superior interpersonal skills and be a team player.
• Excellent customer service skills to deal with both internal and external customers
• Must be responsible, self-motivated, self-starter, personable and well organized
• Must be able to effectively handle stressful situations
