Job Title: Training & Safety Manager
Location: Garden City, NY (On-site, 5 days per week)
Salary Range: $120,000 - $130,000 per year
About the Role:
We are a dynamic manufacturing company seeking a Training & Safety Manager to join our team in Garden City. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Operations, this role is crucial in developing and implementing safety and training processes and procedures for our manufacturing plant. The ideal candidate will also collaborate with Human Resources to ensure these processes are seamlessly integrated into company operations and manage workers' compensation reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety Program Development:
Design, implement, and oversee safety policies and procedures for the manufacturing plant.
Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Lead incident investigations and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
Training Initiatives:
Create and deliver comprehensive training programs for plant employees, focusing on safety practices, equipment use, and operational efficiency.
Maintain up-to-date training records and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs.
Collaboration with HR:
Partner with Human Resources to integrate safety and training initiatives into broader HR processes.
Manage and process workers’ compensation claims, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
Regulatory Compliance:
Stay current on OSHA and other relevant safety standards, ensuring the plant meets or exceeds all regulatory requirements.
Continuous Improvement:
Drive a culture of safety and continuous learning across the organization.
Regularly review and refine processes to enhance safety and training effectiveness.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 3+ years of experience in a safety and training role within a manufacturing environment.
Proven ability to develop and implement safety and training programs.
Fluency in both English and Spanish is required.
Must be commutable to Garden City and willing to work on-site, Monday through Friday.
Strong understanding of workers’ compensation processes.
Experience working in or collaborating with Human Resources is a plus (training can be provided).
Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
