Start/End Dates: ASAP 5/21/2024
Position: Full-Time (37.5 hours/week) | Monday Friday, 8:10 AM 4:10 PM
Grades: 3rd Grade | One student with a deaf and autism diagnosis
Contract Length: 2023-2024 school year

Soliant Education is seeking a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter to provide onsite educational support in Augusta, GA. This full-time position will assist a third-grade student who is deaf with an autism diagnosis, ensuring full access to instructional content and facilitating munication throughout the school day. As an essential part of the classroom environment, you will work directly with the student and staff to promote engagement, understanding, and social interaction.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide educational sign language interpretation for a 3rd-grade student in the classroom setting.
  • Interpret both instructional and auditory information to ensure full participation in the academic environment.
  • Reteach or redeliver information as necessary, ensuring that the student prehends all material.
  • Assist with social interactions with hearing peers, promoting munication and inclusion during class activities.
  • Collaborate with the classroom teacher and staff to ensure the student's needs are met and academic progress is supported.
  • Ensure pliance with all educational standards and individualized education plans (IEP).
Requirements:
  • Active Georgia Educational Interpreter Certification (or ability to obtain prior to starting).
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
  • Experience interpreting for students with special needs, including autism, is preferred.
  • Must be able to mit to a full-time schedule (8:10 AM 4:10 PM, Monday Friday).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team within a school environment.
  • Must pass background checks as required by the district.
