LHH Recruitment Solutions has partnered with a Conshohocken, PA-based Utility Construction Company to seek a self-directed and experienced Staff Accountant. This role involves managing all aspects of financial reporting to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. The position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities, including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, and year-end audit preparation. The Staff Accountant will report directly to the Controller.

Salary: $75-$90k 

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close, including preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and working papers.
  • Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information according to corporate schedules and meet all financial reporting deadlines.
  • Prepare and report on variance analysis and trends, determine root causes, and drive corrective actions with appropriate groups.
  • Work closely with the operations management team to support accurate financial reporting and forecasting.
  • Collaborate with other finance team members to support overall department goals and objectives.
  • Monitor and analyze work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Work with the Controller on the preparation of schedules and monitor compliance with company processes and procedures.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance departmental workflow.
  • Provide training and support to new and existing staff as needed.
  • Support the Controller with special projects and workflow process improvements.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

Education:

  • BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting.

Technical Skills and Prior Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of progressive experience in financial reporting/general ledger.
  • Experience working in a professional services firm (public accounting) is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of standard margins, variance, and cost analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, supervisory, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work under limited supervision.

Pay Details: $75,000.00 to $90,000.00 per year
