Job Description

Responsible for prepping machines for shift start-up and/or product change; operating auxiliary equipment to produce various types and sizes of manufactured products while ensuring quality and production goals are met; performing troubleshooting on equipment as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Proficient in all operator 1 & 2 job description requirements.
  • Monitors and performs the operations of the processing equipment for production with minimal supervision.
  • Assists higher-level operators as needed.
  • Uses measuring equipment to ensure all quality specifications are met.
  • Assists in the training of lower-level operators.
  • Operates any material handling and processing equipment required for production and/or replenishment of raw materials.
  • Utilizes shop floor management system to update CIP boards when necessary.
  • Identifies malfunctions with controls on equipment and assists with repairs.
  • Communicates with process and tooling technicians to assist with equipment and root cause analysis pertaining to the production process.
  • Performs basic preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Visually checks work stations to determine if supplies are getting low; pulls supplies from designated stocking areas.
  • Transports materials to and from workstations utilizing necessary material handling equipment.
  • Notifies supervisor and/or material handler when supplies are at reorder levels.
  • Proficient in identifying the difference in raw material types and part numbers.
  • Identifies materials required by reviewing the bill of materials and effectively communicates any shortages.
  • Tests and inspects the produced products to ensure they meet all quality specifications.
  • Reports when products are outside of the specifications to proper supervision and/or quality personnel.
  • Performs non-conforming product procedures when necessary.
  • Isolates and/or reworks items that do not meet specifications or quality standards.
  • Inputs accurate data into the quality control system.
  • Identifies raw materials that do not meet quality requirements.
  • Participates in 6S activities, workshops, meetings, cross-functional training, etc.
  • May be required to work different shifts as needed.
  • May be required to wear assorted PPE for designated work areas.
  • Uses common sense in performing job functions.
  • Reports any work injury/illness to Supervisor.
  • Reports unsafe conditions to Supervisor or Safety Manager.
  • Does not use any equipment, vehicles, or material when impaired.
  • Keeps the work area clean and organized.
  • Uses mechanical devices or requests assistance in lifting heavy loads.
  • Wears seat belts and/or appropriate harness when operating any company or rented vehicle and/or forklift.
  • Does not use tops of machines and/or equipment for extra storage or to hold items.
  • Keeps aisles and/or exits clear; does not let cords interfere with walkways.
  • Stores all sharp objects properly when not in use.
  • Opens and closes doors cautiously and uses extra caution at blind pathway intersections.
  • Reports and/or cleans up all spills immediately. If spilled material is hazardous, uses proper hazardous spill procedures for that product.
  • Uses proper stepstools, platforms, or ladders for duties as they relate to hazardous waste.
  • Places hazardous waste in satellite accumulation containers.
  • Moves hazardous waste containers to the appropriate accumulation area.
Essential Skills
  • Knowledge of basic reading, writing, and arithmetic.
  • Good manual dexterity skills, working with very small parts.
  • Ability to perform repetitive functions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to interpret work orders, instructions, blueprints, and/or drawings.
  • Ability to perform with superior service, reflecting a positive company image while sustaining a positive attitude with those you interact with; always going above and beyond to help others out, regardless of their position or department.
  • Ability to adhere to the highest standards of quality while continually performing at the highest possible level.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • High School diploma/equivalent or 6 – 12 months related experience.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Manufacturing experience.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Mechanical assembly.
  • Repetitive motions.
  • Fast-paced job.
