Full-Time American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter - Pittsburg, California
Blazer Jobs is currently seeking a qualified and experienced American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter for a full-time, school-based contract role in Pittsburg, California. This position is ideal for a compassionate interpreter with a strong commitment to supporting students who rely on ASL for communication. Candidates must meet all local and state requirements, and experience with special education students and their families is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities:- Classroom Interpretation: Provide clear, accurate ASL interpretation for students in various educational settings, including classrooms, assemblies, and other school activities.
- Communication Facilitation: Facilitate effective communication between Deaf or Hard of Hearing (DHH) students and teachers, peers, and other school staff, ensuring accessibility and inclusion.
- Adaptation of Materials: Adapt spoken and written content into ASL as appropriate to help students understand the material being taught.
- Collaboration with Educators: Work closely with teachers and special education staff to ensure a seamless, supportive environment for DHH students.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of services provided and track student progress as required by the district.
- Support for Families: Engage with families to provide resources and strategies that support the childs development and progress both in and outside of school.
- Certified ASL Interpreter in the state of California.
- Proven experience working with students in special education settings is highly preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of and compliance with all state and local regulations regarding educational interpreting.
