Position Details:- Type: Full-time, on-site for the 2024-2025 school year
- Caseload: K-12 students
- Hourly Rate: $50-58/hr
- Deliver Therapy: Provide comprehensive therapy services to students, addressing their physical, emotional, and developmental needs. Engage students in therapeutic activities that promote independence and enhance their daily living skills.
- Conduct Assessments: Perform detailed assessments to identify students' needs, including motor skills, sensory processing, and daily living activities. Use standardized tests and observational methods to gather critical data on each student's abilities.
- Create Plans: Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each student's needs and goals. Monitor progress and adjust strategies as necessary to ensure the effectiveness of interventions.
- Therapeutic Techniques: Utilize various techniques to improve fine motor skills, coordination, sensory processing, and functional abilities. Incorporate play-based and activity-based interventions to engage students meaningfully.
- Work with Staff: Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff to integrate therapy goals into educational programs. Foster a team approach to support student development holistically.
- IEP Meetings: Participate in IEP meetings and offer insights on student progress. Advocate for necessary accommodations and modifications to support student success.
- Maintain Records: Keep accurate and up-to-date records of therapy sessions, student progress, and any changes to treatment plans. Ensure that documentation meets all professional and regulatory standards.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to school policies and state regulations. Stay informed about changes in laws and guidelines that impact occupational therapy practice in schools.
- Educate Staff: Train school staff and parents on strategies to support students' occupational therapy goals in both the classroom and at home. Share practical techniques to reinforce therapy outcomes.
- Adaptive Equipment: Provide training on adaptive equipment and techniques as needed. Ensure that students have access to tools that enhance their participation and independence.
- Stay Current: Keep up with advancements in occupational therapy and pediatric care. Read relevant research, join professional organizations, and participate in online forums.
- Enhance Skills: Attend workshops, seminars, and conferences to further enhance professional skills and knowledge. Seek opportunities for advanced certifications and specializations.
- Education: Masters degree in Occupational Therapy
- Experience: Previous experience in school or pediatric settings preferred
- Licensing: Valid OT license for California
- Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills; effective collaboration with teachers, parents, and colleagues
