Intervention Specialist

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Salary: Starting at $35 per hour for qualified candidates

Job Type: Full-time or Part-time

Job Description: The Intervention Specialist will play a critical role in supporting students with special needs by developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) that promote academic success, emotional well-being, and social development. The successful candidate will collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and other educational professionals to ensure that every student has the opportunity to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Individualized Education Plans (IEPs):

  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs tailored to the specific needs of each student.

  • Regularly evaluate student progress and update IEPs as necessary to ensure continued growth and success.

  • Instructional Support:

  • Provide direct instruction to students in small groups or one-on-one settings.

  • Adapt curriculum and teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs.

  • Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies and interventions.

  • Collaboration:

  • Work closely with general education teachers to modify classroom environments and instructional practices.

  • Partner with families to provide resources and strategies to support learning at home.

  • Coordinate with related service providers such as speech therapists, occupational therapists, and counselors.

  • Behavior Management:

  • Implement positive behavior intervention strategies to promote a supportive learning environment.

  • Monitor and address behavioral challenges in collaboration with the schools behavioral team.

  • Compliance and Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and services provided.

  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding special education.

  • Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and professional development sessions.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education or a related field.

    • Valid Ohio Intervention Specialist License or eligibility to obtain one.

    • Experience working with students with special needs, preferably in a school setting.

    • Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.

    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

    • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with evidence-based interventions and instructional practices.

    • Knowledge of assistive technology and its application in the classroom.

    • Familiarity with behavioral intervention strategies and data collection methods.
