Job Description

We are seeking a skilled CNC Lathe Machinist/Operator to join our team. This position involves setting up and operating CNC and NC lathes, performing various operations such as turning, facing, boring, threading, and drilling. The ideal candidate will have experience with at least one of the following CNC machines: Fanuc, Siemens, or Haas. The role requires the ability to read blueprints, use various measuring instruments, and adjust machines to maintain required sizes.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC and NC lathes.
• Perform operations such as turning, facing, boring, threading, and drilling.
• Read blueprints and understand machining specifications.
• Use measuring instruments like micrometers, calipers, bore gages, and scales.
• Select proper tools and adjust machines to maintain required sizes.
• Understand and manage DNC systems for program uploads and downloads.
• Edit programs and correct issues at the machine control.
• Follow basic machine tool safety procedures and perform daily maintenance.
• Produce complex parts with minimal supervision (Class A level).
• Train other operators as needed.

Essential Skills

• Experience with CNC lathe and mill operations.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Proficiency in using measuring instruments.
• Knowledge of cutting speeds, feed rates, and depth of cuts.
• Ability to perform basic machine maintenance.
• Understanding of DNC systems and program editing.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Conversational programming skills.
• Experience with graphite machining.
• Associate’s Degree in Machine Tool Technology or equivalent.
• 3 years of machine tool experience.

Work Environment

The work environment includes exposure to moving mechanical parts and higher noise levels in the shop. Employees are required to wear steel-toed shoes, hearing, and eye protection while in the shop. Although the company has excellent air filtration and dust collection systems, the shop can still be a very dirty environment due to the machining of graphite.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Denver, Pennsylvania.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $31.00/hr.
