Job Description

Working in a production shop, you will operate a Roll-Forming machine or Polishing machine to create metal seals of various sizes. Most seals are small, but there are also larger, more advanced seals. You will load sheet metal bands onto a roll-former, use a foot pump to run the machine, and roll the metal into a circular seal. You will inspect parts as they are manufactured. The process takes approximately 10 seconds per part, and you will repeat this throughout the day. You may also polish seals with sandpaper, either by hand or by machine.

Responsibilities
  • Operate Roll-Forming and Polishing machines to create metal seals.
  • Load sheet metal bands onto roll-formers and run machines.
  • Inspect parts during manufacturing to ensure quality.
  • Polish seals using sandpaper, by hand or with a machine.
  • Read and follow work orders and instructions carefully.
  • Cross-train and be flexible with moving between rolling and polishing tasks.
  • Handle and manipulate small parts, ensuring attention to detail.
Essential Skills
  • Prior manufacturing experience.
  • Aptitude for math and basic counting skills.
  • Experience with measuring tools such as calipers.
  • Skill in cosmetic quality inspection of parts.
  • Ability to work independently and manage tasks without constant supervision.
  • Good reading comprehension and ability to follow directions efficiently.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Enjoy simple, light, and repetitive work.
  • Good hand-finger dexterity for handling small parts.
  • Flexibility to be cross-trained in various tasks.

Work Environment

The company manufactures engineered metallic seals for the aerospace industry and other applications requiring high-quality seals. The facility is very clean, well-lit, and involves light-duty work, mostly sitting down. Employees can wear headphones and may socialize with other machine operators. The company has three buildings, with most production work starting in building 2. The position is extremely repetitive, focusing on producing high-quality parts consistently.
