Position Overview:

  • Start Date: ASAP June 13th
  • Full-Time: 40 hours per week
  • Caseload: 35-40 elementary students
  • Primary Responsibilities:
    • Conduct re-evaluations for students on your caseload
    • Share initial evaluations with an on-site SLP
    • Develop and maintain a therapy schedule
    • Attend conferences and IEP meetings
    • Collaborate with special education staff to create effective therapy plans

Candidates must have or be able to obtain a Wisconsin DPI-issued Speech-Language Pathologist license for the 2024-2025 school year. Bilingual skills and prior experience in a school setting are highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment & Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive evaluations of students' speech and language skills, developing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and therapy goals tailored to their specific needs.
  • Therapeutic Services: Provide speech-language therapy, including articulation therapy, language interventions, and communication strategies that support student academic success.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, special education staff, and parents to implement speech-language strategies within the classroom. Attend IEP meetings and recommend communication supports and modifications.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed and accurate records of students' progress, therapy plans, and session notes. Prepare reports for IEP meetings and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with best practices in speech-language pathology and special education, and participate in ongoing training and professional development.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
  • Licensure: Valid Wisconsin Speech-Language Pathologist license or eligibility to obtain
  • Certification: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred
  • Experience: Previous experience in a school-based setting or working with children with diverse needs preferred; familiarity with IEP development is a plus
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of speech-language therapy techniques, excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
