Job Description

Operate friction, cable, and hydraulic cranes to discharge cargo from vessels to shore. Maintain and repair cranes as trained and instructed, ensuring safe and efficient operations.

Responsibilities
  • Successfully operate waterside cranes to discharge cargo from vessels to shore.
  • Safely and efficiently operate cranes and related gear to transfer cargo from vessel to shore.
  • Effectively coordinate with vessel personnel, completing required documents and reports related to cargo transfer.
  • Participate in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of cranes, gear, and related equipment as trained and instructed.
  • Perform general duties in all areas of operations of the terminals as assigned.
  • Engage in refresher training in maintenance, operations, safety, and environmental as required.
  • Perform housekeeping and general maintenance as needed.
  • Execute any other terminal functions as trained and instructed by the supervisor.
Essential Skills
  • Experience in machine operating, crane operation, production, general labor, and heavy industry.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work at heights up to 80 feet.
  • Demonstrated aptitude to execute and maintain necessary records.
  • Ability to work with a team, take direction from supervisors, keep required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, nights, and some holidays as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in crane operations and maintenance.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and at heights.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Work Environment

Work is performed outdoors, requiring comfort with various weather conditions, including rain. Candidates must be comfortable working at heights and accessing stairs. The position may require overtime, weekend, night, and holiday shifts as needed.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chesapeake, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00
