Job DescriptionJob Description
Job SummaryThe Material Handler is responsible for maintaining the flow of incoming and outgoing products throughout the facility. This role includes handling, storing, and distributing materials, ensuring that the right products are delivered to the right locations in a safe and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to all workplace safety and product quality guidelines.
  • Read production schedules, customer orders, work orders, and shipping orders to determine materials needed for movement or distribution.
  • Transport materials from receiving or production areas to storage or designated locations.
  • Sort and place materials on racks, shelves, or bins based on predetermined sequences such as size, type, color, or product code.
  • Assemble customer orders from stock and prepare them for shipping by placing on pallets.
  • Mark materials with identifying information and ensure proper documentation.
  • Open crates, bales, and containers as needed.
  • Record quantities of materials received or distributed, ensuring accuracy.
  • Weigh or count items to verify against company standards.
  • Use warehouse computer software to enter records and track inventory.
  • Operate manual and automated material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
  • Load and unload trailers of both palletized and non-palletized products.
  • Maintain compliance with safety and hygiene guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Contribute to overall division performance by meeting internal and external customer needs.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and management.
  • Basic computer literacy for operating warehouse software.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience in a warehouse or material handling role.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, hear, and see on a constant basis.
  • Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 30 pounds; occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to walk, write, and type frequently, and climb stairs as needed.
  • Ability to bend, reach, push, and pull on a frequent basis.
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures (0&degree;F to 120&degree;F), noise, dust, and concrete surfaces.
  • Ability to operate a computer and communicate effectively via telephone.
