Sr. Reporting Business Analyst- PeriOp

The Senior Reporting Business Analyst is a key member of the Data and Analytics Team, responsible for understanding client analytics needs and aligning them with the most suitable analytics tools. This role specializes in real-time or near-real-time reporting from the Epic database using tools like Reporting Workbench, custom metrics, RW SQL reports, and operational dashboards with Radar. The analyst will engage closely with operational leaders to analyze and translate data requirements into effective analytics solutions. Additionally, this position partners with the Technical Training team to create training and documentation for self-service tools like Slicer Dicer and Qlik Sense.Primary ResponsibilitiesDevelop custom reports and dashboards using Epic Cogito tools (e.g., Reporting Workbench, Radar) and Qlik Sense to meet operational data needs.
Serve as the main point of contact for specific departments, understanding their reporting requirements and ensuring analytics solutions meet those needs.
Collaborate with operational leaders to gather requirements, validate reports, and ensure data accuracy.
Mentor junior analysts in both technical and functional skills, establishing best practices for reporting and analytics.
Assist with intake prioritization, managing requests and projects efficiently.
Stay updated with Epic releases, planning for retiring outdated tools and converting to advanced analytics solutions.
Ensure adherence to service level agreements (SLAs) and provide after-hours on-call support as needed.
QualificationsEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or 10 years of relevant experience if no degree).
Experience: Six years in business intelligence and analytics, with at least two years working with Epic Reporting Workbench and Radar dashboards. Strong SQL skills, data warehouse knowledge, and experience in business intelligence development are required.
Certifications: Epic certifications in Cogito fundamentals, Cogito Tools Administration, and either Clarity Data Model or Caboodle Data Model (or equivalent) are required within the first year of hire.
SkillsProficient in SQL for high-volume datasets and experienced in BI and analytics software.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to work effectively with management and cross-functional teams.
Service-oriented, with a commitment to customer satisfaction and positive stakeholder interactions.
Knowledgeable in data management practices, reporting lifecycle, and healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA, MIPS).
Comfortable working in dynamic environments, handling multiple priorities and adjusting to evolving needs.

Familiarity with clinical data, workflows, and healthcare terminology.
Key AbilitiesEffectively train and support end-users in self-service analytics tools.
Present findings to senior management and adapt analytics to meet evolving business requirements.
Proactively manage intake requests, troubleshoot data issues, and mentor team members.
Establish and document best practices, ensuring quality and consistency in reporting and data management.
Essential TasksMaintain service-oriented support for clients, providing timely follow-up and on-call assistance.
Develop and validate reports, dashboards, and analytics solutions for clinical, financial, and operational data.
Collaborate with operational stakeholders to specify, develop, and validate data requirements.
Prepare documentation and technical specifications for analytics solutions.
Ensure users have appropriate report access and troubleshoot data discrepancies.
Lead the transition from legacy tools (e.g., Crystal reports) to new solutions like RW SQL and Qlik.
This role requires a proactive, service-oriented approach to drive meaningful insights from data, contributing to informed decision-making across the organization.
