Special Education Case-manager Positionfor Highly Transient Small Academy

Position: Special Education Teacher
Location:Michigan *Virtual Position*
Duration: Full Time 30-40 Hours a week. In the beginning it will be closer to 40 hours, however, this is likely to taper after the first few weeks; 2024-2025 School Year
Caseload:Students are ages 14-18, 38 with IEPs.This number fluctuates throughout the year, 3 more needing initial evals in the pipeline.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored for students with special needs.
  • Adapt teaching methods to accommodate the diverse learning abilities of students.
  • Employ various instructional techniques and technologies to facilitate engaging and effective learning experiences.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, modifying teaching approaches as necessary.
  • Partner with general education teachers, counselors, and other specialists to enhance student learning and development.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians to update them on student progress and objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
  • Valid Special Education Teaching License or eligibility for certification.
  • Proven experience with students with a range of learning needs and disabilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of IEP development and implementation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must pass a Tech Screening
  • Must have experience working with at-risk students and bring a trauma-informed pedagogy to the table
  • Needs experience using PowerSchool and TIENet for IEP writing

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive tools.
  • Understanding of behavior management techniques and positive behavior support strategies.
  • Capability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
