Are you a passionate and dedicated Sign Language Interpreter seeking a rewarding opportunity to empower a deaf or hard-of-hearing student and foster a truly inclusive learning environment in an elementary school setting?

Soliant Education is seeking a qualified Sign Language Interpreter to join our team in the Eubanks, NC area This full-time, in-person position for the 2024-2025 school year offers a unique chance to make a significant impact on the life of an elementary school student by providing seamless munication access throughout the school day.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide one-on-one sign language interpreting services for a deaf or hard-of-hearing student in an elementary school setting.
  • Facilitate clear and accurate munication between the student, teachers, peers, and other school staff in all classroom environments and activities.
  • Utilize various interpreting techniques, including simultaneous interpreting and signed English, to ensure the student has full access to instruction and participation in all aspects of school life.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all student information and adhere to professional ethical codes.
  • Collaborate with teachers and specialists to develop effective munication strategies that support the student's academic and social-emotional needs.
  • Advocate for the student's full inclusion and participation in the classroom and school munity.
  • Stay current on best practices in sign language interpreting for educational settings, including knowledge of deaf culture and child development.

As a Sign Language Interpreter, you will play a vital role in creating a bridge for munication and ensuring equitable access to education for a deaf or hard-of-hearing student. You will collaborate with a dedicated team to foster a weling and inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive.

Qualifications:

  • National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Certification.
  • Prior experience working as a sign language interpreter in an educational setting, preferably with elementary school students, is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of child development and educational methodologies relevant to the elementary school age range.
  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English.
  • Excellent munication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with students, parents, teachers, and other school staff.
  • Ability to adapt munication styles and interpreting techniques to meet the specific needs of the student.
  • A passion for promoting deaf culture and ensuring equal access to education for all students in a supportive school environment.
