As the Transportation Director, you will play a pivotal role in leading and optimizing the transportation operations. You will oversee a fleet of trucks and be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and timely deliveries. Your expertise in transportation management, coupled with your strong leadership skills, will be essential in driving success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety and Compliance: Prioritize safety as the top priority. Implement and maintain rigorous safety programs, ensuring strict adherence to DOT regulations and company policies.
  • Fleet Management: Oversee the entire fleet, including maintenance scheduling, vehicle inspections, and asset management.
  • Driver Management: Recruit, hire, and retain top-tier drivers. Foster a positive and supportive work environment, promoting driver satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Dispatch and Routing: Optimize route planning and dispatching to maximize efficiency and minimize costs. Utilize advanced transportation management systems to streamline operations.
  • Performance Management: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, fuel consumption, and driver productivity. Implement strategies to improve performance and reduce costs.
  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with maintenance vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective repairs and maintenance.
  • Software Proficiency: Demonstrate strong proficiency in transportation management software such as Samsara, Roadnet / Omnitracs, S2K, or similar systems. Utilize these tools to enhance operational efficiency and decision-making.
  • Mentorship and Leadership: Develop and mentor a high-performing team. Provide guidance and support to team members to foster professional growth and success.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on industry regulations and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation management in the distribution industry.
  • Proven track record in leading and managing transportation teams.
  • Strong understanding of DOT regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong analytical skills to analyze data and identify trends.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in transportation management software (Samsara, Roadnet / Omnitracs, S2K, etc.).
