Our client, a subcontractor in central Connecticut, is adding a Controller to their team. This role involves overseeing accounting functions, managing accounts payable and receivable, conducting audits, and preparing financial statements. You will play a key role in budget processes, month-end close procedures, AIA billing, and certified payroll tasks.


Responsibilities:

• Oversee all accounting operations including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Treasury

• Conduct internal audits for policy adherence and regulatory standards

• Manage budget processes and make necessary adjustments to align with financial goals

• Oversee month-end close procedures and ensure they are completed in a timely and accurate manner

• Handle AIA billing processes and ensure they are done in accordance with established standards

• Manage certified payroll tasks and ensure they comply with legal requirements

• Prepare financial statements, business activity reports, and forecasts

• Implement, monitor, and maintain financial controls and guidelines

• Liase with outside CPA firm

• Ensure all financial operations comply with federal and state laws and regulations.

Requirements:

• Possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in a Controller or similar role within construction (ideally a subcontractor)

• Proven knowledge of Accounting Functions, Accounts Payable (AP), and Accounts Receivable (AR), including AIA Billing and project costing

• Expertise in Budget Processes and Month End Close

• Experience in AIA Billing and Certified Payroll

• Proficiency in Financial Statement Preparation

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

• Strong leadership and team management abilities

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Proficient in using financial software and Microsoft Office Suite

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (Master's degree preferred)
