Job DescriptionJob DescriptionWe are offering a contract for a permanent position as an Assistant Controller in Lansing, Michigan. In this role, you will be tasked with a variety of responsibilities related to accounting, auditing, budgeting, and human resources management.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and process payroll activities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Conduct thorough analyses of general ledger accounts to maintain financial accuracy.
• Facilitate bank account reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable operations to maintain financial health.
• Assist in the preparation and execution of audits.
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Act as a liaison between employees and management, answering queries related to organizational policies, practices, and regulations.
• Play an active role in the development of policies and procedures related to employee relations.
• Assist in the investigation of employee complaints or incidents involving potential employee misconduct.
• Support recruiting and employee relations processes to foster a positive work environment.
• Process disability claims as needed.
• Assist with new employee orientations to ensure smooth onboarding.
• Participate as an executive team member and advise on all human resources levels.
• Maintain accurate financial transaction records, entering data into accounting software such as Sage Intacct and Paycom.
• Handle funds and ensure they are deposited in approved banks and withdrawn only as approved.
• Oversee the processing of checks for the payment of liabilities, ensuring they have been approved in writing by authorized persons.
• Report any expenditure that may have been without proper authorization.
• Retrieve and file confidential documents, preparing reports as needed.• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role as an Assistant Controller or relevant field
• Proficiency in using Sage Intacct for accounting purposes
• Experience with Paycom for efficient payroll management
• Strong skills in balance sheet account reconciliation
• Ability to analyze financial statements effectively
• Experience in bank account reconciliation
• Expertise in managing payroll operations
• Experience in handling Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP)
• Proficiency in performing month-end close duties effectively
